Elegant and Charming Home

Award-winning Residence Designed by Kenny Wu

In the manifestation of design aesthetics, the male client wishes to manifest a sense of grandeur and minimalism, whereas the female client wishes the new residence to embody living experiences of comfort and elegance. This unique design challenge was expertly tackled by renowned designer Kenny Wu, resulting in an elegant and charming home that seamlessly combines the couple's desires.

One of the standout features of this residence is its wide inlet of natural lighting, which allowed for a transparent opening plan layout in the public areas. The design incorporates sharp spatial line work, an elegant color scheme, and carefully selected furniture to create a harmonious fusion of the couple's different needs.

The use of materials such as granite, timber veneer, wallpaper, glass, and Venetian blinds adds to the overall sophistication of the design. The 153 square meter space includes a four-room floor plan, with the master bedroom featuring two walk-in closets to cater to the individual preferences of the clients.

Instead of conventional partitions, furniture was strategically placed to demarcate the open public area. Adjustable blinds were used to maintain a continuous window-opening, allowing natural light to flood in while improving the exterior vista. This design choice not only enhances the functionality of the space but also adds a touch of modern minimalism.

The project, completed in June 2017 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, showcases the meticulous research and attention to detail that went into its creation. Irregularly placed and sized color blocks in the entrance create a visually and movement guiding themed elevation, adding rhythm and liveliness to the minimal space. The clean and elegant white color base tone is complemented by like-color furniture, lighting, and decorative items, creating a visually layered and exquisite interior.

One of the challenges faced by the designer was integrating the existing kitchen and island bench areas, which did not align with the lightness and comfort preferred by the female client. Through careful color layout and design extensions, the heavier color elements were seamlessly blended into the light and airy space, creating a harmonious balance.

The design of this elegant and charming home has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This accolade is a testament to the outstanding creativity and ingenuity displayed by Kenny Wu in creating a residence that authentically embodies the clients' desires and contributes to an improved quality of life.
